Assalamualaikum, good day dearest! Okay, today we're reviewing a classic rom com movie and I am in love with the movie ever since I watched it for the first time.
Title: The Proposal
Runtime: 108 minutes
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Director: Anne Fletcher
Writer: Peter Chiarelli
Released year: 2009
Casts: Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds
Plot:
Margaret Tate is an editor at a publishing company in New York. She was career-driven and a very assertive leader. When she discovered she was about to be deported from the USA due to her visa expiration, she immediately schemes a marriage with her supposedly fiance, Andrew Paxton who is also currently her hard working assistant of three years. In return of joining the scheme, Margaret promised Andrew the promotion he had been looking for. Due to the unexpected situation, the immigration agent planned to uncover their scheme and charge Andrew with fraud and deported Margaret. As agent interview them for their activity during that particular weekend, Margaret immediately said that they were going back to Andrew's hometown in Alaska to celebrate Gammy's 90th birthday.
Trailer:
This movie serves a great rom-com for a fake relationship trope. I freaking loves how Margaret minds worked very quickly to get herself from being deported. Just the word engagement and a light bulb lights up in her mind. And of course she couldn't pick a better person to be her fiancé. Of course her assistant, Andrew is the best one. He knew everything about her.
I loves the dynamic of Andrew and Margaret's relationship. From how much Andrew hated her and the understanding they came to and how they slowly fell for each other. Ohhh, how romantic. And of course we could not forget about the family that actually brings them closer than they could ever imagine. I looooves gammy! She unknowingly became the person who make Margaret realized about her feelings. And that the whole family (well exception to his father) welcomed her without much protest and just gives out the love.
Being a rom-com, of course there were plentiful scenes of comedy. And if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the one where Margaret dance and sang rap song in the woods with gammy to thank the mother nature. I mean what? Haha, she was supposed to chant to thank the nature not sang rap songs and the lyrics was so hilarious. And gammy face? Goollden.
The ending well, as expected it is happy ending and I couldn't asked for more. I love how Sandra's hairstyle changed from the beginning to the end of the show. She was in high ponytail in the beginning, signifying her uptight and strict character and letting her hair down at the end to her let loose, chilled character. And ending credit interview scene? Absolutely loves it.
