Tell Me What You Saw

May 30, 2020 6 Comments

Assalamualaikum, and good errr early morning dearest ! How are you all doing ? I am doing finer these days or at least that what I convince myself. I just finished watching this drama and immediately write the review because I am too excited for this drama. So, here we go !

Title : Tell Me What You Saw / Say What You Saw
Episodes : 16
Genre : Crime, Thriller
Network : OCN
Director : Lee Joon Hyung
Writer : Go Young Jae, Han Gi Hyun
Cast : Joon Hyuk, Soo Young, Jin Seo Yeon, Jang Hyun Sung, Ryu Seung Soo
Plot :

Oh Hyun Jae was a criminal profiler who disappeared five years ago after losing his fiancee in an explosion. That explosion happened because of a serial killer with the nickname, 'Peppermint Candy' to the public and 'That Guy' in the police community that was pursued by Hyun Jae and his team. Cha Soo Young is an officer in a rural area. She possessed an ability to remember the things she saw the way it was. To uncover the truth of the death of his fiancee, Oh Hyun Jae recruit Soo Young in his team.

SPOILER ALERT

This is another drama that put me on edge all the time. From the moment of the opening scene, it already had my attention on and I managed to finish this drama with only three to four days (seems like a long time ? well, it is too quick for me ). The first few episodes definitely catch my attention because Jang Hyuk doesn't even stand up on his scenes but still got me focused on him. He did a great job playing with his tone and his expression. Even when he had recovered, he had not much action scenes like in other dramas he starred in. It was one of the new side of him that managed to amaze me.

Every actors played their part really well, especially Jin Seo Yeon. At first, she portray a strong-will, charismatic and collected type of leader but when she faced her traumatic past, she crumble and became a woman that every woman is (I am not saying that we, women are weak but at some point in our life, we are, in fact, everyone had their weak point that they wanted to hide)

The plot was filled with twists and turns and if you did not pay enough attention, you may get lost. One moment they found the guy and next he wasn't. There was too much things to uncover and too much sides wanted to catch 'That Guy' for different reasons. One moment they teamed up and another they betrayed. It can get a little confusing but I managed to catch up. The real killer was definitely unexpected even though I kind of jokingly point him out at some point.

They say, human are directed by their instincts. But I beg to differ. Someone with good heart can sink into wickedness, while someone with wicked heart can overcome their own wickedness. I'll tell you what I saw. I saw the will. The will to fight against sinking into wickedness. Whether someone is a good person or not, it depends on what one chooses to be. - Cha Soo Young

Almost all of the cases they investigate were cruel and brutal. It was a challenge for me to keep watching. However, towards the end of the drama, all of the members in the team were investigating their own case and I think it was a mess right there. However, any other scenes were beautifully directed. I loved how there was not much unnecessary script of the characters panicking. It shows professionalism of the police member to stay calm in a negative situation.

A WARNING from me, this drama  is not suitable to watch with children as there were lots of disturbing scenes that should be keep away from them. Oh, maybe those with a weak heart and old people doesn't fit to watch this drama. The disturbing scenes could get really extreme and brutal.

Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim 2

May 18, 2020 7 Comments
Assalamualaikum, good day dearest ! We had much less five days to complete this year Ramadan. Oh, how time flies so fast. It still feels like we are in the beginning of Ramadan... Or is it just me ? Anyways, this is the second 2020 drama that I watched and hopefully more to come!

Title :  Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim 2 / Doctor Romantic 2
Episodes : 32 episodes, 30 minutes per episode
Genre : Medical, Romance
Writer : Kang Eun Kyung
Network : SBS
Cast : Han Seok Kyu, Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Sung Kyung
Plot :

Dr. Kim Sa Bu still runs Doldam Hospital as usual. After three years, Dr. Kang Dong Joo, Dr. Yoon Seo Jung and Dr. Doo Im Bum all went separate ways to serve in different hospital. Dr. Kim was desperate to have younger doctor to serve in Doldam Hospital. He then came across a skilled general surgeon, Dr. Seo Woo Jin who was treated as an outcast after blowing his senior's dirty deed. Dr. Kim offered him a job at Doldam Hospital. Dr. Cha Eun Jae is a cardiac surgeon who had a problem whenever she went inside the surgery room. She would fall asleep in the middle of surgery. In results, she was sent to Doldam Hospital.

SPOILER ALERT

The wait of four years finally ended early this year as Dr. Kim is back for another season (but I did not wait for four years.) In my opinion this season are more interesting than the last one. First few episodes a little bit slow as the scenes were not recorded at Doldam but somewhere else. But the speed pick up when Dr. Cha, Dr. Seo and Dr. Yoon (emergency doctor at Geodae) came to Doldam.

The plot were still pretty much the same as the first season but upgraded. President Do is back as the foundation chairman and he was hell bend in harassing Dr.Kim and Doldam Hospital. Sending another team to take over Doldam Hospital and this time, the leader of their team had a history with Dr. Kim. The only reason he agreed to go to Doldam was to see Dr. Kim's ability himself. He is not really a threat because the real one was his right-hand man. It was annoying to see him eavesdropping everywhere.

People do as well as they're trusted to. They become as strong as they're care for, and grow as much as they're acknowledged. - Master Kim

This season aren't only focused on the main characters but also the supporting. I love watching dramas that doesn't revolves only with the main characters. Each supporting characters had their own scenes without the main characters. Also, the doctors who left was occasionally mentioned in the drama so it kind of a good thing instead of just cut them out. Dr. Do even made a cameo on the last few episodes. The chemistry between the casts were great. Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung definitely pull off their characters really well. Their chemistry as a couple was great even though there was not much of their romantic scenes, unlike the first season.

There was so much great OSTs in this drama but my favorite was by Heize called 'That's All'.

Don't give up asking why we live and what we live for. The moment you do that, that's when our romance end. Don't you know that ? - Master Kim

Psychopath Diary

May 12, 2020 10 Comments

Assalamualaikum, good day dearest ! We almost at the end of Ramadan, can you believe it ?! Wow, time sure flies so fast. So, MCO was extended yet again and this time it will ends on 9th June. But with the exceptional condition added to the order, some of us were allowed to go for works and I could say that we could live a little freer. Anyways, here is the k-drama review for today !

Title : Psychopath Diary
Episodes : 16
Genre : Comedy, Crime
Writer : Ryu Yong Jae, Kim Hwan Chae, Choi Sung Joon
Network : tvN
Cast : Yoon Shi Yoon, Jung In Sun, Park Sung Hoon
Plot :

Yook Dong Shik works at a brokage company. He had a kind and timid personality which led him to be a pushover in the company. Due to an incident that tainted the company's name, he is forced to take responsibility even though it was not his fault. After being called during the birthday party of his nephew, he decided to take his own life. Yook Dong Shik then went to a construction site after leaving his suicide note on his table. He however got chickened out. On his way out, he witnessed a murder. He accidentally picked the murder's diary and flee. He was hit by Officer Shim Bo Kyung's car while fleeing and lose his memory due to the accident. Because of the diary, he believed that he is a serial killer.

SPOILER ALERT

It's been so long since I last watched Yoon Shi Yoon works so it's good to see him again. Alright, the plot and story line are great and not so heavy. It is pretty enjoyable for me. The first few episodes a little boring for me because it passed a bit slow but nothing unbearable.

This drama are in between tension and comedy. I mean, when a situation supposed to be tense and serious, it gets funny because of Yook Dong Shik's character. And with Shim Bo Kyung, the situation gets funnier sometimes. I love the chemistry between these two actor. The crime committed were grave but there was no disturbing scenes like any other crime drama.

The real killer were revealed early in the drama and it is a great fit for a comedy drama. It was hilarious seeing Seo In Woo trying to make Dong Shik as his alliances because he thought they had the same interest. He is ruthless and the actor played him really well. I don't think I have ever watch any of his (Park Sung Hoon) works before. He did gave me chills when he tried to make Dong Shik as the scapegoat.

Overall, I enjoyed this drama even though I watched it a little slow than any other drama. And as the plus point, the OST used in the drama is great and I love it !

Thoughtless Thursday #028

May 07, 2020 14 Comments
Assalamualaikum semua... Apa khabar ? Rasanya lama sangat dah takde entry yang tak berkaitan dengan review. Entry yang guna tajuk Thoughtless Thursday ni pun dah berkurun tak update. Last time check, bulan tiga, sekarang bulan lima... Dasar pemalas suraya ! Harini pun kebetulan je tengok tarikh. Maklumlahh, kena kurung kan.. Hehe. So, puasa tak harini ?

Aku takdelah nak update apa pun memandangkan hidup aku memang tengah dull ni less colors ni, so kalau rasa-rasa bosan tu, stop jelah baca. Muehehe. Sepanjang Ramadan ni tak banyak pun yang aku buat, tapi memang rasala ketara beza dengan tahun tahun lalu. First, sebab jemaah tarawih dekat rumah. Nasib baik angah and family dekat sini, kalau tak empat kerat jelah yang jemaahnya. Itupun kalau semua boleh solat. Haha. Second, angah ni jenis yang rasa nak makan mesti buat sendiri, lagilah tengah MCO ni, lagi la kena buat sendiri kan, so memang buka tu makanan beli takdelah. Kalau tahun-tahun sudah memang kuih-kuih beli semua. So yeah, terasa lain Ramadan kalini.

tengok apa niiii

Hah, ni lagi satu aku nak cerita... haritu kan Iman Shoppe ada buat Pesta Buku Iman untuk ganti PBAKL2020 yang cancel sebab COVID-19 ni. Dorang buka pre-order untuk buku-buku yang patutnya launch masa PBAKL and antara buku-buku tu termasuklah buku baru by Teme ni. Awalnya, aku memang taknak beli pun. Yelah, aku ni pulak sejenis manusia yang akan baca review dulu baru decide beli. Tapi masa awal-awal MCO memang taktahu nak buat apa so aku pun belilah. Actually, ada je buku-buku lain yang aku nak beli tapi sis tak nak membazir lagi-lagi dengan keadaan sekarang ni. So, aku decide untuk beli buku Teme ni je.

Kalau ikutkan jadual asal pihak Iman, dorang akan post buku-buku pre-order ni on 20th April.

Later later later.

Aku pun dah penat menaip, undur diri dulu. May Allah bless all of you !

p/s: dengarlah lagu collaboration IU dengan SUGA, best !

The Outlaws

May 03, 2020 12 Comments
Assalamualaikum, good day dearest ! How is your Ramadan so far ? Here I am again to fill another time of your day with another movie review ! Okay, maybe some of you guys had watch this before. It is great, aite ?

Title : The Outlaws / Criminal City
Runtime : 121 minutes
Genre : Action, Crime
Country / Language : South Korea / Korean
Released year : 2017
Director : Kang Yoon Sung
Cast : Ma Dong Seok, Yoon Kye Sang
Plot :

Ma Suk Do is a detective in Chinatown area of Seoul. He had been working for 15 years in the area. He tries to keep peace while two Chinese-Korean gangs battle over turfs in the neighborhood. The neighborhood was in chaos when one of the gang was taken over by Jang Chen, a loan shark from China. He was backed by two of his henchmen, Sung Rak and Yang Ben. Their method to collect money was beyond brutal. Ma Suk Do then was pressured to catch them.

This movie is based on true story of 'Heuksapa Incident' in 2007 where the detectives arrested 32 people who were part of the gang.

SPOILER ALERT

Oh well, for Running Man lovers you might be familiar of this movie because of the Jang Chen's impersonation that they usually did and that, how I came to know the existence of this movie. First off, it was a great action movie with a very simple plot. It is a story of two major gang who fought for turfs but things when over board when one of the gang fall in the hand of Jang Chen, a loan shark with no mercy. And cruel. One things led to another, it leaves the detectives no choice but to caught Jang Chen's gang all at once.

The main characters shined and they definitely the perfect fit for the roles they played. I am very familiar with Ma Dong Seok and for me his character in this movie was just another of his main strength. Always the good guy with some bad action. And as for Yoon Kye Sang, this is the first time I watch over his work so I don't have much to say. But he really did look scary playing Jang Chen. A merciless loan shark.

The camerawork really did wonder ! Despite so much action scenes, it was smooth and there's not much motion which I found great. Too much motion means headache. Despite being an action movie, this movie did not have any heavy plot and it is very straightforward. I have nothing to think of and no guessing required, which was good since all I've been doing while watching a movie or drama was guessing the bad guy and the intention of their action.

The ending is laid out clear so I have nothing to say. However, I am looking forward for the sequel of this movie which should be out anytime this year. And another surprise (or not), Salman Khan, yes that Salman Khan would released a remake of this movie during Eid this year. So, I have so much to look forward to !
