Title : Hear Me
Runtime : 109 minutes
Genre : Romance
Country / Language : Taiwan / Mandarin, Taiwan Sign Language
Released year : 2009
Director : Cheng Fenfen
Writer : Cheng Fenfen
Cast : Eddie Peng, Ivy Chen, Yanxi Chen
Plot :

Tian Kuo is a deliveryman, working for his family restaurant. One day, he make a delivery to a swimming team with hearing impairments. He then met two sisters, Xiao Peng who is training to be in the Deaflympics and the younger sister Yang Yang. Tian Kuo is interested with Yuan Yuan, they then begin to spent time together. After an incident, Yuan Yuan realized that she has been drifting away from her sister. She then broke it off with Tian Kuo.

Eddie Peng looked so familiar to me so when I checkout his filmography, turns out he is the one who acted in 'The Last Woman Standing'.

SPOILER ALERT

This movie take me for a wonderful experience. I have never watch any movie that solely focused on the hearing impairments people. It usually just an occasional mention in dramas but never a center focus.

Despite most of the scenes were shot in sign language, I can still feels the heated arguments, the desperation and also the tensions. I even cried when Xiao Peng and Yang Yang had a heart-to-heart talk. And they don't even talk in a sense that I, we familiar with. To make up with the less dialogue, they fit in the background noises and for me, it was okay. It will be too empty without them. The the actors were so great with their expressions while 'talking'.

I love the chemistry between Tian Kuo and Yang Yang. They were so cute together and their love was innocent. I love how awkward Tian Kuo was when he wanted to coax Yang Yang. Yang Yang character's was matured as she worked hard so that her older sister can only focused on training. Her selflessness make her put aside her feelings for Tian Kuo. But after their talk, she make an effort to reach out to him.

What I didn't expect was the twist at near end. It seriously had me grinning like a fool. I feel cheated but in a good way. I was really happy for them. Tian Kuo's parents were also a great character to spice up their romance. This movie is light and very much enjoyable.

I'm sorry because I couldn't find the one with English subs.

February 27, 2021 18 Comments

Assalamualaikum, good day dearest! So, I have like only two days(wow, why I'm not ready and not surprise?!) to start the new semester. It was suppose to start this week but it gets pushed back for the reason that I am not going to find out. Here we go, another semester of not going back to campus! We actually can apply to go back to campus but I'm not applying because I'm too lazy to pack my things and I personally think it will be a hassle for everyone to sent me to campus. Anyway, here is the list of things that I need so that the second semester will pass smoothly. Hopefully so.

Note: This post is linked to my affiliate program with Involve Asia. If you guys buy through the links (click on pictures or on the list of the 'Another links for similar product') that I provided during the given time, I will get a little commission for promoting them.

Note two: I am not, by any means force you guys to buy them. But if any of you did, thank youuuu so much!

Note three: Oh yeah, all links will be bring you to a specific Shopee product. However, this entry is not sponsored by Shopee or any other third party. It's just me, promoting whatever things I love. Now, let's get to it.

1. Desk lamp

I have planned to buy this lamp long ago, even before I started my degree all because I love to read before going to sleep. I tried using my sleep lamp but it is a sleep lamp for reasons. It was so dimmed that I hurts my eyes. Which then, I ended up going to sleep instead of reading lol su you're suppose to sleep in the first place. Anyway, last semester, I had to stay up to edit videos and not having a desk lamp kind of sucks because I need to turn on my room lamp. And because my ceiling fan decided to have an early retirement, it is hot with the room lamp on. I have already get mine from MR.Diy but it can easily be found on the shopping websites.

This shop offers a free shipping and nothing is better than shopping online without paying for shipping, righttt? This product also offers a clip version;

Plus, this desk lamp had a flexible hm, holder? Am not sure what to call it, but you can adjust, bend higher or lower,  the position of your light whatever way you wanted. Good right? It used USB to charge.

Another links of similar product:

  1. Rechargeable Wireless Table Lamp (Stand/Clip)
  2. White Clip Table Lamp

2. Coloured pen

What make notes fun to read? Colours! So what do you need? Coloured pens!

What's better than coloured pens? A cutesy coloured pens! Yeah, this one offers a set of ten multi-coloured pen with cute design on its body!

This shop offers four set of nine multi-coloured pens and they're all gorgeous! Please check it out yourself, I am very much tempted to buy more pens right now.

Another links for similar product:

  1. Set of 5, Vintage Coloured Pen
  2. Set of 12, Diamond Head Coloured Pen

3. Highlighters

Another essential thing for students and office workers and bujo owners are highlighters. My old one still had the inks but we should have back ups, shouldn't we?

This is one of my favorite type of highlighter, it is pastel! If you guys prefer a neon one, next one is for you~

Another links for similar product:

  1. Set of 6, Pastel Highlighter
  2. Set of 5, Twin Head/Double Tip Highlighter
  3. Set of 12, Twin Head/Double Tip Highlighter

4. Post-it notes and flag up

Having a thicc textbooks can get really annoying, right? Solve it with the flag up to mark the important chapters! Some people called it label post-it note. Also, having a post-it notes can make studying really fun! If we are not in this remote situation, we can use post it notes to gossips in class (little kid are allowed to follow this advice).

A set of little bit of everything. During my highschool days, I will purchase this like of product, it is cheaper and easier, at least for me. Now, I don't use much flag up so I just stick to the sticky notes.

This one is a little more cute version of post-it note and flag up.

Another links for similar product:

  1. Plain Set of 5 Colours Post-it Notes
  2. Set of 6, Gradient Colour Flag Up

  5. 30 sheets/pages, Nature Lanscape Post-it Notes
  6. 50 sheets/pages, To-do-list Post-it Notes
5. Notebooks (andmemopadbecausewhynot)

Most essential thing is finally here! Notebooks! And Memo pads! Okay, memo pad is a smaller version on notebook and it is like post-it notes without the sticky part. Get it?

With the size of B6(125mm x 175mm), this notebook come with a 100 pages! They also offers multiple design and I loves the aesthetic of it. Oh, make sure you guys read the description because the pages(may be blank, dotted, grid) differs with each design. Further question, chat the seller. Hehe

This one comes with several design that you can choose from from the cover to the pages. With A5 size(145mm x 210mm), it comes with 100 pages.

Missing You

February 24, 2021 14 Comments
Assalamualaikum, good day dearest! I am dreading for the new semester to begin next week so, here is a movie review that I should have wrote long ago. Hope you can enjoy!

not mine; credited to the rightful owner

Title : Missing You / Waiting For You
Runtime : 108 minutes
Genre : Thriller, Suspense
Country / Language : South Korea / Korean
Released year : 2016
Director : Mo Hong Jin
Writer : Mo Hong Jin
Cast : Shim Eun Kyung, Kim Sung Oh, Yoon Je Moon
Plot :

A detective who was working for a serial murder case was killed on his way to home. That detective had a seven years old daughter named Hee Joo. The murder, Ki Bum was eventually caught but he was only charged with one murder. 15 years later, Ki Bum was released from the prison. Detective Dae Young, who was a partner with Hee Joo's father constantly put Ki Bum on the watch. He is determined to convict the other murders on Ki Bum. While the police force is watching Ki Bum, Hee Joo who had been waiting for Ki Bum, started her own plan to catch the person who killed her father herself.

SPOILER ALERT

This movie started off with the murder of Hee Joo's father. It happened so fast and unexpected. All I know was he get off the taxi while the other person was trying to get into the taxi and the next thing happened was he was stabbed, right on his neck.  The scene was so sad. When they caught Ki Bum, I am on the fence to either believe that he is the killer or he is not. The constant denying on his part was do feels a little sarcastic and mocking like, 'Hah, I am not the killer but you won't know,' make me leaning a bit more on the guilty side.

The plot was actually simple. Detective Dae Young need a prove that Ki Bum is the serial killer and Hee Joo need to trap Ki Bum for another murder. What makes it interesting was the existence of another person. While I believe that Ki Bum was the killer for the murder, I didn't expect him to have an accomplice.

All the minutes spent on this movie was used perfectly well with the suspense and thrilling scenes. It was hard for me to not pay attention. The moment when Ki Bum found out about Hee Joo was really thrilling. The final 30-40 minutes really keep me on my toe. It was a battle between Hee Joo, Ki Bum and the police force, which will get whom first. The way it ended put on a teeny tiny question mark in my head because Hee Joo successfully carried out her final plan and Ki Bum is to serve another years in the prison but then there's no Hee Joo in the court trial nor after that. Ki Bum was charged with an attempt murder which mean Hee Joo is alive! But, where is she after that? I'm pretending that she went to that concert she been waiting for.

Shim Eun Kyung who played Hee Joo was a great actress. I love the duality of her character. Hee Joo in front of Detective Dae Young was a sweet, innocent and simple girl but Hee Joo in her room was manipulating, observant, and scary girl who craves for revenge. The way she planned her revenge and carried them was scarily intelligent. I love her character the most. Oh, and Kim Sung Oh played Ki Bum really great too. I thought he only suited the, dumb, jobless but wise neighborhood uncle but he really wow-ed me with this character.

Hospital Ship

February 22, 2021 20 Comments
Assalamualaikum, good day dearest! This is my last week of holiday before the next semester start. I have schedule like hm, another four or five k-drama reviews for the next few weeks so I wouldn't totally abandon this blog lol. Anyway, this is an old not really k-drama that I have been wanting to watch. So, here we go~

not mine; credited to the rightful owner

Title : Hospital Ship
Episodes : 40 episodes (35 minutes per episode)
Genre :  Medical,Romance, Drama
Director : Park Jae Bum, Kim Sang Woo
Writer : Yoon, Sun Joo
Network : MBC
Cast : Kang Min Hyuk, Ha Ji Won, Lee Seo Won, Kim In Shik
Plot :

This drama depicts the story of young doctors who provide medical services island residents by hospital ship. Two of the doctors; Kim Jae Geol, a Korean medicine doctor and Cha Joon Young, a dentist were assigned to the hospital ship as part of their military service. Meanwhile, Kwak Hyun, an internal medicine doctor offers his service willingly. His father was known as the famous surgeon who went to the war-zone countries to offer his service. After a few months, Surgeon Song Eun Jae joined them on board. She was a hardworking surgeon who was exiled by his senior because she told the family member of the patient who died due to the mistake of that senior. With the specialty of their own, they begin working in the hospital ship.

SPOILER ALERT

It starts off with character introduction. Despite being with a large number of people, I tried to only focused only on the main characters. First few episodes were just the beginning of their journey towards the hospital ship. What happened to the four of them that make them ended up on hospital ship, a place where every public health officers avoid going to.

I love all the medical scenes whereby the patients need an urgent surgery. It was all intense and nerve-wrecking but due to the fact that they are on a ship, it kind of get old when they can't move the patient to the inland hospitals due to the weather. It didn't happen with every cases but still it happened quite frequent. My favorite scene was when their ship was hijacked by drug smuggler. The tension was on maximum level plus I love how Kwak Hyun keep trying to be there for Song Eun Jae.

The story-line was full of dramas.  I honestly think that some of them can be taken out because it leave plot holes here and there. The case against the conglomerate group was unnecessary and I don't think it contribute much to the story. Minus point when the character Cha Joon Young was barely there. I mean, he is supposed to be one of the doctors in the ship and his story barely told. Nope, I think it wasn't told at all. It kind of kill the vibe when the other three doctors, had their story told and his is not. Another minus was when at the near end, the story line gets draggy. Oh my, I am not sure how many minutes I had to skip because of all those flashbacks.

Kwak Hyun and Song Eun Jae's relationship was progressing beautifully. Even with the ex-girlfriend drama, love-triangle drama, denying drama. I love them all. Love is everywhere, even with the minor characters. Maybe it was because of their height different, but Kwak Hyun and Song Eun Jae looks really cute together!

Overall, this drama is great for leisure watch as it wasn't as stressful as I thought. I really enjoyed the drama very well.

thes's Love Giveaway: The Gifts

February 19, 2021 16 Comments

Assalamualaikum, good day dearest! I actually wanted to put the picture of the gift sample in the same entry as the giveaway but then I get too lazy to scroll down.

As I said before, I will be giving out alphabet keychains and bookmarks made from resin. So, the picture below is the sample of the gift. Why sample? First, the alphabet keychain will may or may not the same letter, depending on what the winner choose it to be. And second, the bookmark may or may not have the same design as mine. I think it will be the same but it may not, depending on the creativity of the maker (which is my friend so she better make it pretty).

Lastly, as I said before, the winner might be more than one person. I haven't decide so just wait till the winner announcement, I guess. Speaking of winner announcement, I am not sure when it will be because my semester start exactly on 1st March soooo I hope it will be within the month. I think I have said everything regarding the gifts so good luck everyone!

Chan Rak Ter... Aku Cinta Kamu by Sara Aisha

February 17, 2021 21 Comments
Assalamualaikum, good day dearest! I really really need to post the entries of #bookreview but yeah, I keep postponing and here we are. Anyway, novel sis Sara Aisha yang dalam drafts rasanya ada lagi dua? ke tiga? Lepastu novel Syu Ariani then.... Sara Aisha balik semula kot hahaha. Tengok la macam mana nanti.

Tajuk : Chan Rak Ter... Aku Cinta Kamu
Penulis : Sara Aisha
Mukasurat : 606 pages
Penerbit : Karyaseni
Terbitan : Februari 2013
ISBN : 9789670246420
Blurb :

Namun siapa sangka satu tragedi akhirnya memusnahkan segala-galanya. Kerana masa yang salah, tempat yang salah dan bersama orang yang salah, Dian akhirnya terjebak dalam satu konspirasi yang tidak pernah langsung terlintas dek fikiran warasnya.

"You're more than just Karn Klaharn. Siapa... Siapa sebenarnya awak? Apa yang awak nak daripada saya? Kenapa saya mesti terbabit dengan semua ini?!"-Dian Damia

Kerana dia, Dian Damia yang menerima akibatnya. Kerana dia, Dian Damia takkan pernah tersenyum lagi. Dan untuk itu, dia akan membetulkan segala-galanya. Walau apa cara sekalipun yang harus dia lakukan, tidak akan sekali-kali dia teragak-agak. Yang penting, Dian harus diselamatkan!

"Izinkan saya jaga awak... Izinkan saya lindungi awak, Dian..."-Karn Klaharn

"Tangan ni dah pernah rampas nyawa manusia lain. Dan saya takkan teragak-agak untuk buat perkara yang sama demi Dian Damia. I would do anything for her..."

I believe this is the start of SA's thriller books, no? Well, novel ni terbit tahun 2013 and disebabkan ramai yang request, tak salah aku pihak Karyaseni ada re-print. Ini bermaksud, novel ni ada permintaan yang sangat tinngi. Kalau ikutkan tajuk, ceritanya seolah-olah romance sahaja but no, ada thriller, ada action juga. Seronok baca.

Permulaan novel ni biasa-biasa aje, kisah Dian yang merantau ke Thailand untuk mencari ilham kemudian berkenalan dengan Karn, lelaki Thai yang mulanya disangka jahat. Things start to get interesting bila Dian dan Karn diculik. Kalau novel thriller SA yang lain (well, aku baru baca novel ni) si hero mesti pandai berlawan tapi kalini, hero tak berapa mahir bertarung apatah lagi nak kalahkan sekumpulan lelaki.

Aku suka bila penulis tak dedahkan identiti penculik awal-awal. Semua watak tahu yang menculik tu Sakda, satu nama yang tak tahu siapa gerangan manusia. Sekadar pseudonym. Mulanya aku ingatkan Sakda ni is rival in Karn's business tapi rupanya... jeng jeng jeng.

Romance antara Dian dengan Karn taklah nampak sangat. Maybe sebab awal-awal lagi dah intense, dengan kidnapping lepastu Dian trauma semua so tak banyak mana pun babak yang sweet ke apa. Tapi, sepanjang Dian dalam jagaan Karn, adalah babak yang tunjuk that Dian and Karn start to develop feeling for one another. Aku suka waktu Karn tiba-tiba ajak Dian kahwin. Gila terkejut kita, dahla takde confess apa-apa, alih-alih ajak kahwin terus.

Flow cerita bagi aku okay and teratur. Cuma aku take time nak habiskan novel ni sebab aku baca in between a hectic week, so yeah.

Stranger 2

February 15, 2021 10 Comments
Assalamualaikum, good day dearest! This the continuation of last week review except it is with another plot with the same actors.

not mine; credited to the rightful owner

Title : Stranger 2
Episodes : 16
Genre : Thriller, Law
Director : Park Hyun Seok
Writer : Lee Soo Yeon
Network : tvN
Cast : Cho Seung Woo, Bae Doo Na, Choi Moo Sung, Jeon Hye Bin, Lee Joon Hyuk, Yoon Se Ah
Related : Stranger
Plot :

Prosecutor Hwang Si Mok was called to participate in the council for prosecutor-police to discuss about the investigative right. During the tension of the feud, Prosecutor Seo Dong Jae was reported as missing and was assumed kidnapped. During the investigation of the case, Hwang Si Mok and Han Yeo Jin find themselves digging around the old case that might be related to the disappearance of Seo Dong Jae. One the case might be the cause of the feud to end.

SPOILER ALERT

After two years leaving Seoul Western Prosecution Office, Hwang Si Mok was assigned to another office. It was a little slow at first few episode because of the adjustment to the last season and to lay out a new foundation of this season. One thing that I will always do when I watch a series drama is to look for the actors. I love how they keep the original actors and add few person to the case. Now that Han Yeo Jin is promoted, she was assigned to be in the reformation team at National Police Agency.

Because of the feud between prosecutor and police over the investigative rights, a council was formed to  solve the problem and a total of seven person was chosen to represent both prosecutor and police. Prosecutor Seo Dong Jae who was known as the confidence, ass-kisser came for Woo Tae Ha who is leading the prosecutor in the council will a few files that will taint the image of Choi Bit, the Director of Reformation Team in Investigative Bureau and also one of the council member. During all the episodes before Seo Dong Jae's disappearance were boring to me as it was not as thrilling, tense as the the last season.

Starting with the case of Seo Dong Jae's disappearance, it gets interesting when there was no lead. Hwang Si Mok was getting restless especially when he lost his junior during the last season. It put stressed on him when he was reminded of that time and the possibility of it to happen again. He started to track Seo Dong Jae's step, starting with the cases given to Woo Tae Ha. Si Mok was suspicious with the wife of Seo Dong Jae but as he focused more on the investigation on the cases; Segok Patrol Police Suicide Case, Lawyer Park Gwang Soo Case, and one case that I don't remember, the suspicion on the wife was let go with no explanation. It was a bit disappointing because there was some questioning behavior with the wife.

Besides the disappearance of Seo Dong Jae and the cases surrounding him, there was also mentioned of Hanjo Group management right and lawsuit case with the Seoul Eastern  Prosecution Office. Honestly, there was too much going on. I was actually expecting more on the Hanjo and the prosecution but the feud between the prosecution and police kind of get into the way. I wouldn't say the story-line was messy but I can't say it flows perfectly either. Hanjo Group was just an occasional mention due to the fact that Lee Chang Jun, the heroic prosecutor and son-in-law of Hanjo Group commit suicide 'hoping for a better future'. Even when one of the case that was brought by Seo Dong Jae involved Hanjo Group, they were still untouched. It was either to be end that way, with Hanjo Group remain untouched or it is a foundation for next season. And I personally hoping for the latter.

While writing this review, I have realize one thing, I am really bad at recognizing people. Really really bad. Why? Because I just realize that the actor that act as Seo Dong Jun is Lee Joon Hyuk, the same actor that leading the drama, '365 Days: Repeat The Year'. How can someone look really different just because of the hairstyle?! Anyway, he was really good! In the first season, he was more competitive, and definitely confidence but during this season, he is lacks confidence, especially when he met Hwang Si Mok for the first time in two years.

I could safely said that this season is not as good as the first season but still enjoyable. I am really hoping for the next season to clear the situation with Hanjo Group and also the undeniable romance between Hwang Si Mok and Han Yeo Jin.

Will You Be There?

February 13, 2021 6 Comments
Assalamualaikum, good day dearest! Happy weekend everyone! I feel like this month is the month for me to use up my money. Lol. Anyway, I was planning to watch a Thai movie but I kind of just click on whatever movie so, here we go again with anothe South Korean movie.

not mine; credited to the rightful owner

Title : Will You Be There?
Runtime : 110 minutes
Genre : Fantasy, Romance
Country / Language : South Korea / Korean
Released year : 2016
Director : Hong Ji Young
Writer : Hong Ji Young, Guillaume Musso (novel)
Cast : Kim Yun Seok, Byun Yo Han
Plot :

After operating on a baby with a cleft during his visit in Cambodia, the grandfather of the baby gave the surgeon, Han Soo Hyun a bottle of ten pills. After discovering that he had terminal illness, Soo Hyun wanted to see his girlfriend, Yeon-a who died 30 years ago. The first time he took the pills, he found himself waking up at train station from 30 years ago, in 1985. There, he met his younger self. After a certain time, he is back to his present time. With the help of the pills, Soo Hyun get his wished to see Yeon-A for the last time.
This movie is based on a French novel by Guillaume Musso  entitled "Seras-tu la?" published in 2006 by XO Edition.

SPOILER ALERT

I was shocked at the first scene because of the Angkor Watt monument. What a way to start off a movie. Honestly,  time travel theme is cliche but it still works for every movie or drama. Same goes to this movie. With the time travel theme, it is cliche but I still like it nonetheless.

Soo Hyun initially wanted to see Yeon-a for the last time after discovering his illness even though he can save her. After his third visit (I think it is) he doesn't intended to get back to the past. However, his younger self called for him. He wanted to save Yeon-a no matter what. And with a few conditions that will save both Yeon-a and Soo-a (Soo Hyun's daughter), the older Soo Hyun agrees.

I love how they show Soo Hyun life is affected in 2015 due to what Soo Hyun in 1985 did. It's funny when 2015 Soo Hyun went to his friend farm only to found out that they haven't been in contact for the past 30 years. But after he went back to his home, that same friend called him asking when would he arrived and who is Soo-a.

The story-line is pretty simple and light, making it an easy watch. This movie is much more than romance between partners because it is also story of love between friend and father-daughter. Such a heart-warming movie. Oh, the ending is just perfect!

Anyway, I was suppose to start next semester on the 22nd Feb but it got pushed back by a week sooooo another one week free for me. Look forward (...or not) what I have in store for this blog. Title : Stranger / Secret Forest
Episodes : 16
Genre : Thriller, Law
Director : Ahn Gil Ho
Writer : Lee So Yeon
Network : tvN
Cast : Cho Seung Woo, Bae Doo Na,
Related : Stranger 2
Plot :

Hwang Si Mok was born with an illness with a part of his brain. He went through a surgery to fix that problem and as implication of that surgery, he lacks emotion. Now, he works as a prosecutor at the Western Prosecutor's Office. One day, while he went to meet an acquaintance at his house, he stumbled upon a dead body of Park Moo Sung. Through that case, he met with Lieutenant Han Yeo Jin. As they tried to solve the case, they came across the corruption that been going on the prosecutors' office.

SPOILER ALERT

Hats off! One of the best thriller k-drama that I had ever watched! There was no need for introduction as the first episode dove right into the plot. Just a little bit flash back of Hwang Si Mok's past as a child and how that surgery affect his emotion and himself as a person. Right after that, it was all about the case, not a second delayed.

One thing that I have to warn about is, this drama is very fast paced, you really should get rid of whatever thing that might distract you while watching this drama. I love that fast story-line and how everything moving on. I love how they focused solely on the murder case and the corruption throughout the drama. I guess, it gave me a new kind of thrill as crime drama that I usually watched will be about serial murders.

Despite the fast paced drama, I really can't guess who is behind the murder case of Park Moo Sung. The motive was so confusing and even the suspects list was confusing. There were so many whys and hows hanging around. With the involvement of Hanjo Group, one of the biggest company in the case, it was confusing me on who is who side.

I really really love all actors in this drama. Especially Cho Seung Woo who acted as Hwang Si Mok. I had watched him in 'God's Gift: 14 Days' and 'Life' and he really is a great actor! He can pulled off a cold and emotionless but was actually a warm person character really well. I still remember him in 'Life' as the new president of a university hospital. He was a cold businessman who only wants to make profit but then he had in him to look at the things around him. As for 'God's Gift:14 Days' I don't really remember much as it's been so long since I last watch that drama (definitely will re-watch soon) but I am sure he had more character in that drama. It is my first time watching and knowing the name Bae Doo Na and she is really a great actress. She looks really comfortable with her character.  I really love the chemistry between this two character. The trust between them came naturally and they're a great partner.

As the drama approaches the ending, it's getting intense. Between the owner of Hanjo Group, Lee Yun Beom, the former Chief Prosecutor, Lee Chang Jun, or the wife and daughter of Hanjo Group, Lee Yeon Jae, who is the mastermind of the case. The ending, for me, feels heavy. The one who instigated everything and the one who executed the plan had me speechless. It feels like it should not end that way. But it makes sense and every puzzle fits perfectly that way.

Title : The Last Woman Standing
Runtime : 95 minutes
Genre : Romance
Country / Language : China / Mandarin
Released year : 2015
Director : Luo Luo
Writer : Luo Luo
Cast : Qi Shu, Eddie Peng
Plot :

Sheng Ruxi is a single working woman in her 30s. She craves for true love as the people at the same age as her are getting married or having a family of their own. Her mother always nagged at her to start dating and get married soon as woman should not get married at late age. Ruxi's mother then introduced her to Dr. Bai. They went on a blind date several times. At the same time, Ma Sai, a younger man started working at the same department as Ruxi.

This movie is adapted from a novel of the same name by Luo Luo.

SPOILER ALERT

Here is another movie for leisure watch. The plot and story-line is light even with a society issue being discussed. Hm, I am not sure is it belong to society, maybe it is more to culture. Being a woman in her 30s, Ruxi was pressured by her mother to settle down as soon as possible. Ruxi is a modern, working woman but she did wanted to get married to her true love. To satisfy her mother, she went on dates with Dr. Bai, a doctor of her mother.

She then met Ma Sai, a junior at her workplace. Being his mentor, they often spent time together. Ruxi then start to like him but due to their age difference, she keep it to herself. I really love their chemistry together. Ruxi looks more comfortable with Ma Sai and I could actually feel the tension when they're together. The feelings they had for one another but both of them are too scared to confessed. When they did, the happiness didn't last long. Ruxi's mother's health is deteriorating and she wanted to fulfill her mother wishes of being at her wedding. They then broke up and Ruxi try again with Dr. Bai.

This movie don't really have any cute or cheesy scenes that make me grinning like a fool. Even when Ma Sai and Ruxi are together, it was more of scenes what they did together, you know, the scenes without script and just song? Something like that. So yeah, don't expect that. However, I couldn't help but rooting for Ruxi and Ma Sai. I am so glad that they found each other again.

This movie, in my opinion, is more of slice of life rather than romance. But then, I still enjoy this movie.

Forest

February 01, 2021 10 Comments
Assalamualaikum, good day dearest! Hello, February! Time sure fly fast... It's already second month of the year and I still haven't update what I wanted to. Anyway, here is the k-drama review for this week.

Title : Forest
Episodes : 32 / 30mins per episode
Genre : Romance, Drama
Director : Oh Jong Rok
Writer : Lee Sun Young
Network : KBS2
Cast : Park Hae Jin, Jo Bo Ah
Plot :

Kang San Hyuk worked as a director for an investment company. After his mishap in front of an important client, his archenemy in company stole his project. As a revenge, San Hyuk took his project that worth billion Korean won. That project is a resort development project at Miryeong Forest. In order to develop that area, he need to relocate 119 Special Rescue Team to another place. As a person who believe that he need to get down to the work, San Hyuk joined the 119 Special Rescue as a new recruit. He then met with Jung Young Jae, a young surgeon who was moved to Miryeong Hospital due to her mistake at a hospital in Seoul. They lived together in a house and begin to develop feelings to one another. While living together in the forest, they uncover the truth of the forest and begin to heal themselves.

SPOILER ALERT

When I first read the summary, I thought it will be a simple romance drama because most website that I frequent omit the fact that Kang San Hyuk is a director in an investment company. Hence, I thought it will just be a romance between a rescuer and a surgeon in a rural area beside the forest. But, there was more than that when I watch it.

For the early episodes, it was a little boring and slow paced. The foundation to the plot is just to be laid out so it was quite a wait. But then, it started to get interesting when San Hyuk successfully became a part of the Special Rescue Team. This drama well balanced drama with a touch of humor, romance, brotherhood, and a little suspense. It was light in the beginning of the story, filled with humor and the start of Young Jae and San Hyuk's love. Even the suspense scene was not too heavy. For me personally, the story of contamination was unnecessary. They could have make it simple romance drama between rescuer and doctor in the forest but with the foundation that they had laid out, it fills in the loopholes.

This drama also mentioned few psychological condition as both of the main characters had a painful past during their childhood.I love how they uncover the truth about San Hyuk's past and the reason of his Phamtom pain. However, the journey to heal Young Jae's panic disorder feel a little rushed. With everything happening in the forest, her past was somehow get pushed back. I love the chemistry between both of them. They really look good together, no wonder they won Best Couple Award on 2020 KBS Drama Award. Park Hae Jin as Kang San Hyuk was really great! He really suited to be Kang San Hyuk and to be honest, he really suit this kind of character. The second couple, Oh Bomi and Choi Chang was so cute together! I love that one scene when Bomi accidentally spoke out her feelings out loud through a speaker and not even realizing it! That could top Descendant of the Sun's speaker confession, really.

Minus point, the scene changed was a little messy. One time they are talking in the present but then it suddenly changed to a past even. It really makes me confused at time. And to be honest, I do think that there was filler scene that need to be omitted. Other than that, it is a great drama to enjoy. Also, the view of that forest was so picturesque and calming. Even the OST is good!
